A relationship with God is not based on feelings. Rather, it is based on faith and a real, honest commitment to surrender our hearts and lives to our Lord and Savior. If we based our spiritual thermometer on how we felt each day, it would be pretty discouraging. Feelings change like the wind. They come and go, run hot and cold. God created us with the ability to experience the whole range of emotions, but it doesn't define how much we love Him. There are times when praying that we can feel the warmth of God's presence and other times, well, we might not. However, it doesn't mean that we are doing something wrong, or we're not praying in the right way, or that God isn't listening to our prayers. It's not feelings that will draw us closer to Jesus. Rather, our faith and knowledge in our hearts of His unending love for us. We need to pray fervently from our heart, not our head. Trust God to answer our prayers according to His will for what is best for us, and not because of our own ability to live a godly life or pray eloquent prayers. Pray from your heart and trust your feelings to Jesus.
