If you're walking around thinking that everyone owes you something, that you are always right, or you start most of your sentences with the word I, then chances are you're afflicted with a Me syndrome. The sad thing about this disease is that it is very isolating, lonely, and it literally takes all joy from your life. There's a reason why all throughout the Bible, God says to love one another and think of others. Philippians 2:3-4 says “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit but with humility of mind. Regard one another as more important than yourselves. Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others”. Scripture after Scripture warns of the evil of selfishness, thinking only of yourself will never bring happiness, but even worse, it will keep you out of the kingdom because there will be no selfish people in heaven. James 3:14-16 says “But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing”. The good news is that there is a cure for the Me syndrome, and that is giving your heart to God and allowing Jesus to dwell within, with Jesus in your heart there is absolutely no room for selfishness. And the best part? His love will just shine out of you wherever you go. People will actually want to be around you, and a heart full of love will not only gain you many friends, it will fill your heart with gladness.
