Some people run from God because they are afraid of what He will ask them to do. They don't want to give Him control and be forced into a religion full of rules. But losing out on eternity with Jesus is a high price to pay for earthly pleasures, which don't last and cannot give everlasting peace and happiness. God has given each of us the gift of choice. We can choose a life of sin or a life surrendered to Jesus. But we can't have both. We must choose. Before we can enter the kingdom of heaven, we must allow God to remove the shackles of sin. Fortunately, God is in the chain-making business and stands by eager and ready for the task. All we need to do is surrender our hearts to Him and ask for His forgiveness. Jesus has promised to save us from our sin, but he doesn't stay in our sin. Allow God to separate you from your sinful desires and ask Him to give you a hatred for your sins. The three most powerful words you could ever pray are “Jesus, save me”. He is eager and ready to unlock the prison doors and set you free.
