Most of us have at least one bad habit. Some of those habits are more annoying to others than to us, such as procrastinating, not cleaning up after ourselves, or talking with our mouth full. Then there are other bad habits more serious in nature, such as abusing drugs, lying, or gossiping. The Bible says in Psalms 1:1 “Blessed is the one who doesn't make a habit of doing what sinners do”. It's important that we live godly lives and all our habits glorify God. Controlling our actions are so important to God that He mentions it many times throughout the Bible. God wants us to make good choices. In Proverbs 16:12, we're told “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines His steps”. Whatever bad habits we are trying to break, we need Holy Spirit power to give us the strength to break these destructive patterns. We need to claim Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Jesus is the only answer, if we want to break bad habits and have real, lasting change.
