Jesus has promised in Matthew 1:21 that "He will save His people from their sins". Notice that it doesn't say “in our sins”, it says “from our sins”. There's a big difference between those two words. We are all sinners and have come short of the glory of God. However, there are some who feel they can live a wild life, do anything they want, and as long as they ask for forgiveness, then they can keep sinning. But they are wrong. God makes it very clear in that one word, “from”, that He doesn't mean for us to keep sinning those same sins. God wants us to confess and ask forgiveness for our sins with a sincere and repentant heart. But then, He expects us to turn away from those sins and stop doing them. And through the grace of God, it is possible. We need to pray and ask God to save us from our current sins, past sins, and any other sin that holds us captive. Ask God to give you a hatred for your sins, and reveal any sins that you are not even aware of. Pray and ask God to free you from the slavery of your own weakness. Begin with “Father, forgive me”.

Mark 11:25 KJV - And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

1 John 1:9 KJV - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Isaiah 55:7 KJV - Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Proverbs 28:13 KJV - He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall have mercy.
