If you want to draw closer to God - spend time communicating with Him through prayer and study of His Word. There is no right or wrong way to pray nor does God expect you to pray in an eloquent manner. He looks forward to hearing from you - especially when you open up and share what is on your heart. He wants you to tell Him about your day, what makes you happy, what you’re worried about and what makes you sad. He longs for you to let ‘Him’ fix your problems, no matter how big or small, and He especially loves to hear your praises. It’s important to make time each day just to spend time talking to your Creator one on one - but it is also good to pray with others. In fact, the Bible says in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” That’s a powerful promise which is reason enough to take God at His Word. When you have a difficult decision to make, or you’re faced with a life altering situation - instead of pacing the floor, ask a friend that you trust to pray with you and remember that prayer and faith go hand in hand. Claim God’s promise in Matthew 21:22 where He says, “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Put God to the test and ask your family or friends to pray with you - then put your petition before the throne room of God. You’ll be amazed at what God can do! And an added bonus: prayer is the best stress reliever you could possibly have! So take your burdens to the Lord today!
