Sometimes it is foolish pride that gets people in trouble. It’s easy to have the “I’ll do it myself” attitude. But stubbornness can lead to serious consequences! Asking for help loading your own moving truck could not only save you from an aching back or a ruptured disc, but could actually make what would have been a dreaded chore . . . into a fun day with friends! Calling for assistance is nothing to be ashamed of. Neither will people think more highly of you just because you have a reputation of being a “one man band’! When you have experienced the benefit of someone helping you, it makes you more willing to reach out and help someone else. Proverbs 3:27 tells us, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” People helping people creates memories and lasting friendships. It’s much easier to walk this life’s journey surrounded by friends than it is to be alone. And let’s not forget the One you can count on the most: Jesus Christ our Lord. He stands willing to help anytime, day or night - all you need to do is ask! He not only loves you more than anyone else ever could, He will act on your behalf, and help you face whatever problem you have. The Bible says in Psalm 28:7, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts Him, and I am helped.” And in Hebrews 13:6: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” Never be afraid, ashamed or too shy to “ask for help!”
